Percussion | Frank Wyant, Principal

Frank Wyant has been an active performer and educator in the Bay Area for over 30 years.  He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master's degrees in percussion performance from San Jose State University.  In addition to his role as principal percussionist with the Monterey Symphony,  Mr. Wyant has performed with many of the bay area orchestras and performing arts groups.

Mr. Wyant also enjoys performing in jazz and popular music ensembles and is active as a freelance drum set artist.  He has performed with a variety of artists as part of the Columbia College Jazz Artist series including Bobby Shew, Bobby McFerrin, Richie Cole, Claire Fischer, and Grant Geissman, and can be heard on the Bay Area Octet Octobop's last recording, "Live at Savanna Jazz."

As an educator, Mr. Wyant has taught at numerous educational institutions from the elementary to collegiate level. He also maintains an active private percussion studio, with former students selected for state and county honor ensembles, regional youth orchestras, as well as university and conservatory programs.
