Board and Administration

Brenda Murdock grew up in a musical family, with a grandfather who was in vaudeville and wrote over 4,000 songs — the most notable being "I Want A Girl" (Just like the girl who married dear old dad). From an early age she attended the symphony, opera, live concerts, and other musical events.

Brenda graduated from the University of San Francisco with a BS in Business Economics and a J.D. She has practiced Family Law in Monterey County since 1985.

Since moving to Carmel in 1985 she has served on many Board of Directors, including but not limited to, the Monterey County SPCA, Monterey County Bar Association, Monterey College of Law, and the Monterey Symphony. She served on the Symphony Board from 2007-2013, serving as Co-Chairman of the Board in 2010-2011. After a ten-year hiatus, she rejoined the Board in 2023. She has served as Chair of Governance, a member of the Executive Committee, and the Music Committee.

Aside from music, including currently taking piano lessons, her passions are her children and grandchildren, tennis, and travel.
