Board and Administration

Mr. Mason is the Chair of the League of American Orchestras Board. He previously served on the boards of Philharmonia Baroque, the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Oakland Symphony and the Association of California Symphony Orchestras (as Board President). He has served on the League of American Orchestras for seven years and is also a current board member of the Monterey Symphony.

Alan Mason is a retired Managing Director from BlackRock's ETF and Index Investments (EII) business. Mr. Mason served on the firm's Global Diversity Steering Committee and was a founding member and global sponsor for the firm's LGBT employee network.

Mr. Mason earned a BM degree from Baylor University, summa cum laude, an MA degree in musicology from the University of Louisville in, with honors, and an MA degree in ethnomusicology from University of California Berkeley. He was a candidate for the Ph.D. at UC Berkeley.

Mr. Mason played oboe with the Waco and Louisville Symphony orchestras. He also taught undergraduate music courses at Louisville and Berkeley.

He resides in Pacific Grove, California.
