Liz Lyman's varied background includes strong experience in the performing arts.  She was a member of the renowned professional choral group Woodley Ensemble and was a guest artist with Tallis Scholars and Cambridge Singers. In addition, Liz has sung with the Charleston Bach Soloists and Charleston Renaissance Ensemble in South Carolina, and the Washington Bach Consort, in Washington, DC.  Her arts experience extends beyond performance to management, and she has served as the Executive Director of the Washington Bach Consort and the Theater Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center, the Virginia Choral Society and the Contemporary Music Forum.  She was the Director of Public Relations for the Choral Arts Society of Washington and the Director of Public Relations and Programs for the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs where she managed programs and public affairs for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.  During her 12 years with the Department of Agriculture, Liz managed the grants program designed to assist non-profit organizations working in food security and hunger prevention.  She was the national winner of the American Humane Society's Humane Hero award for her work to save animals following the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
 
She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Monterey Symphony, and I Cantori di Carmel.
