Monterey Symphony, MY Museum, and Pacific Repertory Theatre are bringing the holiday cheer to your home this season with a Virtual Holiday Spectacular Balcony Session. Join us on Christmas Eve at 1:00 PM (PST) when we broadcast live from MY Museum in Monterey. This is an online event that will be streamed via Vimeo to the Monterey Symphony Facebook page and YouTube Channel. This performance will also be available via Roku and IGTV after the live event has ended.

This is an Online Event.
Due to guidelines around gatherings, onsite seating is NOT available for this event.

How to upload a Virtual Background in Zoom:

  1. Once in the meeting, look to the bottom left corner and see an option to "Stop Video." Don't click it! To the right is an upward arrow, "^," click the arrow 
  2. When clicking the arrow, you will see an option to "Choose virtual background," click that option 
  3. That will take you to a new window in "Settings" where you can choose from a default background or upload your own
  4. To upload your own, click the "+" on the right of the video screen in the "Settings" window. This will give you the option to upload your own background into Zoom 
  5. Select your image and click Open

Alicia Mastromonaco, MSO Assistant Principal Horn

Alicia has played with the Monterey Symphony since 2007. She is also a member of the Carmel Bach Festival and Marin Symphony. A San Francisco native, she began her music studies at age seven on the piano, and took up the horn after switching from the trumpet in her middle school band program. She earned Bachelors of Music degrees in Horn Performance and Musicology from Boston University, and did graduate work at the Universität der Künste Berlin before returning to California to continue her studies. She earned a Masters of Music degree at UCLA in Horn Performance, a Masters of Arts degree in Musicology at UCSB, and is currently working on her PhD at UCSB. Alicia's dissertation is focused on the daily lives of orchestral musicians and the organizations in which they play, and she is using her dissertation to explore the relationships between regional orchestras and their communities. Alicia is also an avid outdoorsperson and animal lover.

Caitlyn Smith-Franklin, MSO Horn

Caitlyn Smith Franklin (Horn), a native of the Chicago area, is a Bay Area freelancer and teacher. Caitlyn has been the Principal Horn of the Stockton Symphony since 2013. She also holds the position of Utility Horn with the Santa Rosa Symphony and 2nd Horn with the Santa Cruz Symphony. While studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Robert Ward of the San Francisco Symphony, Caitlyn also won two regional orchestra positions in 2010: 2nd Horn in the Monterey Symphony and 4th horn in the Fort Collins Symphony (CO). With a very active freelance orchestral career, Caitlyn performs regularly with numerous Bay Area orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, Opera San Jose, the Marin Symphony, Oakland East Bay Symphony, Symphony Silicon Valley, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Napa Valley Symphony, Merced Symphony, Fremont Symphony, the SF Academy Orchestra, and the Magik*Magik Orchestra. In addition to her freelance work, Caitlyn maintains a small teaching studio and also enjoys playing woodwind chamber music.

During the summers, Caitlyn has also performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, at the Music Academy of the West, the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Brevard Music Center, the Pierre-­Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestral Musicians, and the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific.

Caitlyn holds Bachelor's degrees in music (horn performance) and biology, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Miami in 2008. Subsequently, she earned her Master of Music degree in horn performance in 2011 and her Professional Studies Diploma in 2012, both from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Malinda DeRouen Mueller

Malinda is excited to share her love of Christmas with an audience! A lifelong performer of music and theatre, Malinda has performed as an actor and singer throughout the Monterey Peninsula and the Bay Area, gracing the stages of musical venues as well as theatrical playhouses. Locally, she recently played the title role in The Western Stage's production of Evita and Sebastian in Pacific Repertory's Theatre's production of The Little Mermaid at the Forest Theatre. Beyond the peninsula, Malinda was an understudy to multiple roles in Beach Blanket Babylon in San Francisco and has toured as a vocalist with Royal Caribbean Cruises. malindaderouen.com

Maddox Haberdasher

Terrell Maddox (known locally by his nom de plume Maddox Haberdasher) has been a resident of the Monterey Peninsula for almost 15 years. He arrived in Monterey to complete 11 years in the United States Army.

Maddox is known for his honed sartorial skills after working at two prestigious menswear clothiers in Carmel. He has been a stylist for both men and women's fashion in magazines such as Pebble Beach Magazine and Carmel Magazine. Most recently, Maddox served on the board for Dance Kids of Monterey County for over five years.

Where possible Mr. Haberdasher tries to give back to the community whether it be through his sartorial advice or by providing a fun, upscale atmosphere to every event he plans.
