Beth Zare
French Horn


Beth Zare grew up in the Bay Area. She played with many local youth orchestras before she went to the University of Southern California, where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree in french horn performance. Her principal teachers were James Decker and Richard Todd. Beth played principal horn for eight years in Mexico City. In 1995, she returned to the Bay Area. She has been the third horn with the Monterey Symphony since 1997. She is also a member of Symphony Silicon Valley and plays frequently with Opera San Jose.
Elected by her peers, Beth served for many years as the Monterey Symphony’s representative to the Regional Orchestra Players Association. She has served as President of the Musicians’ Union, San Jose Local 153. Beth enjoys golf and billiards and lives in San Jose with four cats and a large German Shepherd.
