Thomas YeeAssistant Concertmaster Thomas Yee, violinist from Santa Barbara, is the Assistant Concertmaster with the Monterey Symphony and has been a member of the orchestra for many seasons. He plays regularly and occasionally as principal with the orchestras in Santa Rosa, Marin, Modesto, Walnut Creek, Napa, Oakland, and as rotating principal with the Santa Barbara Symphony. Achieving both a Bachelor and Masters in Music, Thomas graduated with awards and honors from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he often served as concertmaster. He studied with Camilla Wicks, Axel Strauss, and Alexander Barantschik. He is a dynamic and versatile performer, and in collaboration with guitarist Jose Rodriguez formed Duo Revirado, featuring a program of classical/jazz/tango/Spanish folk music to take on tour in California and Mexico. In 2009, they performed at Santa Barbara’s International Guitar Festival. In 2007, Thomas and Jose released a CD of Spanish/Tango music entitle, “Historia.” Thomas is also playing in Tango del Cielo, an exciting group involving harp, percussion, cello, and dancers. In 2009, they headlined Modesto's International Arts Festival. Thomas teaches at Jou Music Institute in Cupertino and maintains a private teaching studio. He resides in South San Francisco with his pianist wife Jieun. They frequently perform together in concert as well. His passion is communicating through performing and inspiring/teaching future generations. Thomas plays on the Ex-Isaac Stern French violin by J. B.Vuillaume, circa 1848.
