Charith Premawardhana Viola An avid chamber musician, Charith Premawardhana is founder and artistic director of Classical Revoution, a San Francisco-based chamber music collective that focuses on performing at accessible venues, such as cafes and bars. Charith has performed with the Monterey Symphony, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Shotgun Wedding Hip Hop Symphony, San Francisco Composers' Chamber Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, Reno Philharmonic, Sacramento Philharmonic, Aspen Festival Orchestras, Houston Ballet, Chicago Civic Orchestra, Columbus (OH) Symphony, and New World Symphony in Miami. Since moving to the Bay Area, Charith has performed with several established String Quartets. In addition, he has studied or coached with members of the Cleveland, Concord, and American Quartets. He holds degrees from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Rice University in Houston, and Ohio State University. Charith has worked in the non-classical music world, having collaborated with DJs, songwriters, jazz musicians, rock bands, and can be heard on jazz singer Madeleine Peyroux's album Half the Perfect World (2006), Vanessa Carlton's Heroes and Thieves (2007), and The Mars Volta's Bedlam in Goliath (2008).
