![]() Teresa Orozco Petersen Flute II
Teresa has been assistant principal flute for the Monterey
Symphony since 1987 and principal flute of the Santa Cruz-based New
Music Works since 1992. She regularly performs in the Carmel Bach
Festival, Opera San Jose, West Bay Opera, and Santa Cruz Symphony. In
1983, Teresa toured nationally with the San Francisco Merola Western
Opera Company. Teresa also specializes in jazz and Latin music,
performing regularly with Mambo Tropical–a salsa band, Orquesta Gitano,
and Havana Jazz El Desayuno. Her musical activities include orchestral
player, contractor, recording artist, studio musician, and musical
director and founder of the Ovation Chamber Music ensemble. She mentors
more than 40 young musicians and is now in her fifth year as conductor
for the Avant Flute Choir, an ensemble based within the San Jose Youth
Symphony Orchestra. Teresa received her bachelor of arts and master of
Arts degrees with honors from San Jose State University. She also has
had master classes with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Julius Baker, Ransom Wilson,
and others. Teresa resides in San Jose with her husband and three
children and often perform together as a family in churches, hospitals,
and other locations. |
