FRIENDS OF THE SYMPHONY

The Friends of the Monterey Symphony, an auxiliary of the Monterey County Symphony Association, is a voluntary organization devoted to the support and encouragement of the Monterey Symphony. The Friends of the Symphony was founded in 1955 and was formerly known as the Monterey County Symphony Guild. Proceeds from the Friends dues, donations, projects and events are contributed to the orchestra each year. Last year, the Friends earned $86,947.

MEMBERSHIP

The membership of the Friends is open to any person interested in furthering the activities of the orchestra. All members receive invitations to an Annual Membership Tea, concert preview luncheons, fundraising projects, and special events. Members also receive the Directory which is updated each year. In addition, they benefit from the satisfaction of knowing that their efforts on the orchestra's behalf enhance the quality of cultural life of our region. We encourage everyone to join and participate.

There are many opportunities throughout the year in which volunteers can help the Friends and the Symphony. Here a just a few.

Leadership
● Sponsor a pre-concert Luncheon ($500)
● Host an event in your home: tea, musical gathering, recognition event
● Put together a table for the Gala Celebration, October 6, 2007

Committees
● Annual Membership Tea committee

Promotions & Mailings
● Distributing posters and flyers
● Invitations to Friends Luncheons and fundraisers
