Have
each student choose an instrument. They will become a specialist in this
instrument.
- Students are to read the definition of their
instrument group (Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion). Then read the
description of their instrument from “Meeting the Instruments.”
- The students can use the Monterey Symphony
website to research more detailed information about their instrument.
Follow these links montereysymphony.org---Education---Youth
Activities---Music Education Activities---Musical Links---Children’s
Symphony Page.
Once the students know their
instrument they move on to the next step.
- Using the line drawings of their instrument
students create a “Music Instrument Person” that matches the instrument.
(When making the drawing the student should take into account the
personality, shape, sound, and job of the instrument.)
- Students then present their instrument person to
the class explaining the instrument using their drawing as a visual. In
essence they are teaching the class.
