Listening to the CD

Follow-Up Activities

After listening to a piece of music the teacher may want to incorporate some of the following activities into their day’s activities. You may only want to play a 1 to 3 minute selection of any of the pieces on the CD for these activities. These will get the students to think creatively, write and use imagery.  Please feel free to add any to what is below.

·        Music often brings to mind pictures.  Draw the picture this music brings to mind.  Write a short description of your picture.

·        Write a Story based on the music you have just heard.

·        Music can tell a story without words what is the story that the music is telling. What do you think the music is saying?

·        You can tell what country a piece of music was written in just by listening.  Where do you think this piece of music comes from?

·        Music is used as background for movies and TV shows.  How would you use the music you just heard? What would be happening on the screen as this music played?
