Nick Schwartz, Bass Trombone

Nick began studies on the tenor trombone at age 12 in El Paso, Texas. Originally from Barrington, Il, he moved around to Ohio, California and eventually to Michigan. He switched to bass trombone at age 17 in his senior year of high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan where he studied with Tom Riccobono. He received his bachelors degree at The Juilliard School where he studied with bass trombonist, Don Harwood of the New York Philharmonic. He recently recorded with the American Brass Quintet and with Joe Alessi, the principle trombone of the New York Philharmonic. Nick was recently the only finalist in the Norrkoping Symphony (Sweden) audition, the runner up for the Finnish National Opera (Helsinki, Finland) and a finalist for the Rochester Philharmonic.

Nick has been performing with the Monterey Symphony for five years. He recently won the audition for the New York City Ballet.
